DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<br><br>1. Plan, organize, and coordinate the quality activities for the assigned Bissell product manufacturing locations, including:<br><br> Monitor ABR results<br> Ensure tests are being performed per the quality plan<br> Ensure all “issues” are dispositioned as either “not a field issue” or “Issue BPR”<br> Monitor Reliability results<br> Ensure tests are being performed per the quality plan<br> Ensure all “out of tolerance” issues have a BPR issued. Alert staff of drifting processes<br> Manage Reliability Results web program for Asia suppliers<br> Provide training to new suppliers<br> Ensure data being timely entered<br> Manage Quality Tracking for Asia<br> Provide training to all new associates<br> Maintain picture catalog for issues<br> Create defect definitions for all “no code available” entries<br> Ensure data being timely entered<br> Manage Process Audits for Asia<br> Manage schedule for process audits and ensure timely completion.<br> Review findings and ensure BPR’s are issued, as needed.<br> Monitor PPAP status for all New Products<br> Track initiation of PPAP for all new products, ensuring request is issued well-before Trial<br> Provide training/direction to suppliers on proper completion of PPAP’s<br> Track completion of PPAP submission and ensure submitted well-before Trial<br> Track approval of PPAP submission and ensure dispositioned before Trial<br><br><br> Monitor Quality Plan status for all Products<br> Track initiation of all preliminary quality plans for all new products<br> Review plans for completeness<br> All key sections are accounted for<br> All control characteristics are accounted for<br> Track approval of quality plan<br> Ensure latest quality plan is saved to I-drive<br> Incoming Inspection:<br> Assess each manufacturer’s incoming inspection process to ensure that key characteristics are being monitored.<br> Ensure that controls exist for all components having a history of noncompliance (BPR’s issued or otherwise).<br> Process Audits:<br> Perform periodic assessments of each manufacturer’s quality system to ensure that processes are in-place and being followed to assure the quality of Bissell products, including:<br> Calibration system is in-compliance<br> UL-required testing is being completed<br> Product is still being manufactured in compliance with the UL file<br> Work instructions are being followed<br> Line test equipment has been correlated with lab results (master unit is being used to monitor integrity of test station<br> Approved quality plans are being followed<br> Reports all findings to the QM. Issues BPR’s, as-necessary.<br> Final Inspection:<br> Trains the inspector on proper inspection techniques. <br> Assures that findings are being reported by the Inspector to the Quality Engineer, BHI, and the supplier quality representative. Issues BPR’s on findings.<br> Monitor’s Bissell’s Quality Tracking program local entries for accuracy and timeliness.<br> Notifies the Quality Engineer of any need for contract inspection during peak work loads or during Inspector’s vacation.<br> Direct Ship Program:<br>Assists the customer’s auditor during inspection. Issues BPR’s for any significant findings.<br> SEC’s (Supplier Engineering Changes):<br>Assists the QE by monitoring the implementation of SEC’s and reporting implementation dates in the SEC tracking log. Also updates the SEC log with PPAP approval dates.<br> Customer Complaint Resolution:<br>Assists the QE by issuing BPR’s for recurring or serious customer complaints, as received from BHI.<br><br>2. Performs all other related duties as necessary, including performing as a back-up Inspector during absences or peak periods.<br><br>POSITION REQUIREMENTS<br><br> Must be a qualified engineer by training, either in mechanical, electrical, electronic, plastics, or automation (No computer engineer, or other disciplines).<br> Must have at least five years of experience as quality engineer, inspector/auditor for electro-mechanical products or white goods. <br> Must have good understanding of manufacturing processes of electro-mechanical products.<br> Must be able to communicate well in English. <br> Must be willing to spend 50% (or more as needed) of his/her time on repetitive pre-shipment audit/inspection.<br> Strong analytical skills.<br> ISO, PPAP, and other quality system knowledge<br> Working knowledge of SPC<br> Strong computer skills with a firm understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.<br> Demonstrated team-building skills in an environment of managing through influence and persuasion rather than direct control.<br> Ability to keep perspective and not over-react to situations.<br> Proactive rather than reactive to problems.<br> Willing to travel to existing and potential suppliers.<br><br><br>PREFERRED<br> Quality certifications, e.g. ASQ CQA, or equivalent<br> Working knowledge of electronics, plastics, and mechanical parts<br> Background in injection molding<br> Experience with supplier assessment audits<br></p>
