FUNCTION: Works with other supervisors/managers on both the same shift and other shifts, to communicate with departmental workers to form a strong, effective team oriented environment. Understands and communicates company mission, vision, budgets, goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Responsible for groups ranging from 2-80 people in various work areas. Plans and directs the injection molding department personnel and activities to ensure efficient and timely production of quality products in a safe environment within established policies and procedures. Must improve and develop people, process, equipment, material and environment with the following job duties:<br><br><br>EDUCATION: B.S. Polymer Chemical Engineering or Plastics Engineering Technology.<br>An alternative engineering degree may be appropriate if the experience requirements are met.<br><br>EXPERIENCE: Ten years experience in injection molding with at least five years of supervisory experience. Experience should be in a facility with a minimum of 20 injection-molding machines that range in size from 25 tons to 400 tons.<br>Experience should include an excellent working knowledge of the following:<br>? A degree of mold design to aid in the production department troubleshooting, production efficiency, product run ability areas example proper cooling.<br>? New mold startup procedures and processes.<br>? Production of precision parts to tolerances of +/-.001”<br>? Use of color concentrates, pre-colored resins, and/or dry pigments to mold product to exact color matches from batch to batch<br>? Single to multi-cavity/high volume close tolerance product.<br>? Engineered resin experience including PC, POM, PA, ABS, PEI, etc.<br>? Evaluation of major equipment including injection molding machines, screws, barrels, mold temperature controllers, granulators, dryers, hot runner systems, etc.<br>? Troubleshooting and optimizing the molding process for optimum part quality, process stability and machine efficiency.<br>? Designing and running process capability studies and design of experiment.<br>? Quality systems such as ISO, QS, TQM, etc.<br><br><br><br>ACCOUNTABILITY:<br><br>1. PEOPLE: Will be responsible for supervisor training, their evaluations, and scrap accountability<br><br>Specifically:<br><br>? Accountable for maintaining accurate shop-floor information and reporting up to and including but not limited to machine master process sheets, efficiency, production efficiency, scrap rates, mold efficiency, color change times, mold change times etc.<br>? Will work with production planning as needed to schedule jobs according to due dates and manpower to achieve efficient work flow <br>? Will provide clear concise communications to guide supervisors in achieving daily and long-term goals<br>? Will participate in meetings and other plant improvement functions such as FOE, etc.<br>? Shows constant concern and action to ensure a safe work area<br>? Approves overtime, when needed, to the department supervisors and team members<br>? The true relationship-builder within shifts constantly strengthening employee morale (daily)- seeks to understand people’s needs<br><br>2. PROCESS:<br>? Ensures that quality procedures and all applicable work instructions are followed by all personnel<br>? Keeps schedules updated and informs workers of any upcoming changes<br>? Plans and schedules for efficient product flow<br>? Assists in troubleshooting equipment problems, etc., when needed<br>? Stresses and practices safety procedures at all times-leads by example<br><br>3. EQUIPMENT:<br>? Understands capabilities of all equipment and utilizes each piece to reduce labor costs, creating efficient work flow<br>? Understands the importance of PM /maintenance…schedules people and equipment availability to perform these tasks<br>? Monitors downtime of equipment through documentation and is proactive in keeping equipment in good running condition. Understands equipment and sees that all parts/accessories are on machine and used properly.<br>? Knows how to get maximum capacity (ex. cycle times) from each piece of equipment. Sees that people are trained accordingly<br>? Ensures that all guarding for equipment is in place while equipment is in operation<br>? Creates a neat/organized work area<br><br><br><br>4. MATERIALS:<br>? Ensures that materials allocated are quality, available, and timely to meet the needs of other supervisors and team member requirements<br>? Holds supervisors and team members accountable for scrap control<br><br>5. ENVIRONMENT:<br>? Constantly focuses on achieving an ideal work area, such as clean and safe<br>? Personal protective equipment is used at all times and all required assessments are completed yearly<br>? Lockout/tagout procedures are used properly<br>? Reports all accidents to General Manager and makes sure all paperwork is filled out in a timely manner<br>? Studies ergonomics and creates work lines to make the job easier for all team members<br>? Perform safety and housekeeping audits when assigned<br><br>OTHER PERSONAL AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS:<br>? English communication (word and writing)<br>? Prepared to travel and to be several weeks at a time abroad if required.<br>? Willing to perform operator work himself and able to transfer technology to future operators.<br>? Experience with starting up of new production lines<br>? Able to stimulate co-operation between internal teams and different cultures.<br>?
