Work in a fast paced IT department supporting multiple environments interfacing to various manufacturing applications, and contribute to the reliability and availability of our existing manufacturing database environment(s). The ideal candidate should be deeply familiar with database administration tasks using IBM DB2 v8 and above. This should include all standard maintenance tasks including but not limited to: database tuning, table reorgs and runstats, along with query tuning and SQL error interpretation and troubleshooting. The Database Administrator needs to be able to both exercise maintenance tasks of daily and monthly nature, and have the capability to collaboratively design and implement new appropriately reliable instances when needed to support development efforts. The candidate will interface globally with their peers and customers, monitoring and diagnosising issues of the database environments for our world-wide sites. <br>Reposnibilities:<br>-Perform various database health checking procedures, analyzing results and identifying of corrrective actions assuring overall database integrity. <br>-Accurately execute and document results of database maintenance task procedures. Running of: DB2 Reorgs, runstats; monitoring of: locks, tablespaces, insertions, table and view status, filesystem status, paging-space, and other key thresholds<br>-Identify candidate queries for optimization of run time and design, and suggest indices to implement to improve performance<br>-Perform 24x7 problem diagnosis tasks assisting other support teams from up- and down- steam applications and functions<br>-Assist in testing application development efforts where applicable.
