Lead engineering subtasks involving the design, fabrication, validation, and manufacture of subassemblies, systems, processes, equipment or facilities. Conceive and plan engineering subtasks to explore product or process problems; defines and selects new concepts and approaches to the design or development of new or improved products, processes, equipment or facilities.<br>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES <br><br>Prepare detail project plans, including statements of technical objectives and approaches, task breakdowns, schedules, project cost estimates and product cost analyses, submit for approval.<br><br>Direct and coordinate all work on assigned projects by engineers, support personnel and outside groups involving design, development, drafting, sample construction and delivery, test and evaluation, and release for production.<br><br>Personally carry out in-depth design and development engineering work of advanced or pioneering nature involving complex analytic and/or experimental techniques at a professional engineering level.<br><br>Counsel and train less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required or requested.<br><br>Maintain project records; prepare technical, cost and other reports as requested to show progress and results achieved.<br><br>Contribute sound professional advice and creative new ideas, concepts and approaches relative to new design and development projects.<br><br>Keep abreast and well informed of state-of-the-art and important events in areas relevant to engine design and development through publications, outside contacts, meetings, shows, seminars and short courses.<br><br>Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the Maximizing Performance Appraisal Process.<br><br>Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies.<br><br> <br>RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS <br> Supervisory Relationships:<br>• Reports to Manager - Current Product Engineering<br>• Provides techncial direction to and coordinates the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.<br>• Direct interaction with business unit/senior executive managerment on technical matters.<br> <br> Organization Relationships:<br>• Frequent contact with Engine designers, manufacturing engineers, engineering techncians, and purchasing.<br><br>• Occasional contact with all functional areas of Engine Division.List the main/typical organizational relationships<br> External Business Relationships:<br>• Frequent contact with suppliers and industry experts.<br><br>• Occasional contact with consultants. <br><br><br> <br>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS <br>EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering program or a PE license.<br><br>EXPERIENCE: 3 - 8 years work experience on complex mechanical equipment, experience with internal combustion engines a plus.<br><br>SKILLS: Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical problem solving involving design, fabrication and validation of subassemblies and systems.
